WHAT IS COMMUNITY-BASED HEALTH CARE (CBHC)?
The CBHC system is a holistic approach to health care delivery designed to address all aspects of health care delivery in rural areas. It is a self-help arrangement in a decentralized care system. The CBHC system is a user-oriented arrangement in which the beneficiaries play key roles in:
- health care provision
- health care delivery
- health care management
The CBHC system thrives on collaboration with various players including the community, health workers, and local government authorities.
THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF OUR PROGRAM
The long-term objective of our program is to make health care accessible to the people living in rural communities. The program primarily seeks to:
- Improve availability and accessibility of health infrastructure and services in rural communities
- Develop suitable human resource in the rural communities so that trained health personnel shall be available in rural communities at all times.
- Create awareness about predominant health problems in rural communities and methods of preventing or controlling them.
The CBHC Program aims not only at promoting the establishment of health infrastructure and services in rural communities, but also at building capacity at the local level to improve project execution, and to retain this capacity in the community to sustain program impact. The overriding objective of the program is to bring sustainable, standard health care to where no one else will go.
